The Background
In 2015 The Paris Climate Agreement was signed – by nearly every nation – to address climate change and its negative impacts. It aims to substantially reduce greenhouse gas emissions to levels that would prevent global temperatures from increasing more than 2°C (above preindustrial levels), while attempting to limit the increase to 1.5 degrees.
Currently we’re missing these targets. And if nothing is changed, we could be on course for 2 - 5°C increase, resulting in a range of devastating impacts from rising sea levels to extreme weather events, species loss and poorer air quality (to name a few). The good news is we have the technology today to hit international targets if we just change a few habits. And we can all play a part.
The benefits are achievable:
· Cleaner air for our children and future generations – and helping ease pressure on healthcare systems
· Lower spend on fuel for our homes and our cars
· More green spaces
· Drinkable water in London for future generations
· Food that is richer in nutrients.
Why are we doing it?
At Property Detective we are passionate about the environment and know we could do more to help which is why we’ve launched the Green UK initiative. We will push local government to do better and educate residents on easy ways to become more environmentally friendly.
